SKILLS TO SUPPORT IMPROVEMENT
As pointed out in Chapter One, making improvements requires change. For people to be better able to make a change that results in improvement, they could increase their knowledge of specific subject matter—for example, the science behind a chemical reaction, new methods to do surgery, or techniques to grow flowers. Knowledge of subject matter is essential to make changes that result in improvement, but there is also another very useful body of knowledge. It focuses on six skills to support improvements. These skills are described here and explored further in the sections that follow.
