Prologue

It wasn’t my last day at Ikea but it felt that way.

The Swedish summer morning at the end of June 2009 was perfect. We had just finished spending two days with the 300 top managers of Ikea, going through the new five-year plan that was to succeed our plan for the past 10 years. A fantastic goodbye party had been arranged the evening before. It was a very emotional time for me and many of my friends—a moment that will remain as one of my best memories.
