9   From the Top Down: The Physical Layer–Transmission System Specifications

We have completed our trip to the bottom of the IBOC protocol stack, Chapters 5 through 8 addressed the logical, spectral and timing characteristics of the ideal IBOC signal. Supplementing the documents describing the protocol stack are two Transmission System Specifications documents, one each for AM and FM IBOC. The Logical Channels were linked to the IBOC signal structure, with symbols, blocks and frames in the time domain, and interleaver matrices assigned to OFDM subcarrier groups in the frequency domain. Phase and timing relationships have been explored.
