Government Relations Structures

Government relations programs are structured in many different ways. Here are some examples:

  • Head of government relations department reports directly to the chief executive officer (CEO). There is direct access to the government relations public policy expertise; guidance and networks allow the CEO to promptly and effectively discharge such duties.
  • Regional heads of the government affairs department have close reporting lines to the various regional (business) executives of the organization.
  • Government relations personnel are placed in regions based on the nature of the business.
