Premerger Planning

Once the announcement has been made and the initial media frenzy has dissipated, the corporate communicator moves into the premerger planning mode. During this stage, three key activities must be done simultaneously:

  1. Obtaining approvals from shareholders and all of the government oversight groups, including any specific regulators in the firms' industries
  2. Keeping employees in the loop while planning for the official merger kickoff on Day One of the combined firm
  3. Developing the ongoing integration plans to help the two organizations work as one
