The Eight Core Competencies of the Equitable Leader

In 2002 one of our clients asked about the role of leadership in moving toward a Level 5 on the Equity Continuum. The core question was, “What are the characteristics and behaviors of an equitable leader?”

We turned to the Research Unit for Work and Productivity (RUWP), part of the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario, which had helped us “quantify” the Equity Continuum at the organizational level (see Chapter 9).
