Many changes have occurred in operating system and computer hardware technology since the Compatible Time Share System was developed in the early 1960s. The CTSS operating system formed the foundation for time-sharing systems that are prevalent today. In many ways, Integrity Virtual Machines take the fundamental ideas developed decades ago on the CTSS and provide a virtualized platform for running multiple operating systems simultaneously on the same hardware.
