Putting the social in social networks

There are many different forms of socialising that can be undertaken within social networks. In this chapter I investigate varied types of interactions to demonstrate how the social informs, and is informed by, the user's digital presence. This is to reaffirm the assertion that a digital presence is inextricably linked to a user's real life. I outline the numerous types of socialising that occur in networks, for example friendship, profile building, dating and gaming.
