SPECIAL USES FOR SHEWHART CHARTS

This chapter describes a number of modifications to Shewhart charts that may be useful in special situations. When applying Shewhart charts to measures from health care processes, some situations arise where the basic methods need to be modified. This chapter addresses some of these common situations. The objective is to make the reader aware of these complexities and learn how to deal with them when they show up in improvement work.
