Experiment 13

Remote Control of PWM Outputs

Requirements

2 XBee modules

1 XBee adapter

3 LEDs

3 220-ohm resistors, 1/4 watt, 10% (red-red-brown)

1 Solderless breadboard

1 USB-to-XBee adapter

1 USB cable—type-A to mini-B

Digi X-CTU software running on a Windows PC, with an open USB port

Introduction

In this experiment you will learn how to use an application programming interface (API) command to control a PWM output on a remote XBee module without applying a voltage to the AD0-DIO0 or AD1-DIO1 input at a transmitting module. The PWM outputs have some particular traits you must pay careful attention to if you need to use PWM signals in a design. You will learn about those traits in this experiment.

Step 1. In this step you will configure ...
