Theories of Change

Leni Wildflower and Diane Brennan

Change is often the impetus for an individual to begin work with a coach. Whether planned for and desired, as in a marriage or promotion, or unexpected and forced, as in the loss of a job, change is challenging. As coaches, we work with people to help them navigate change. This chapter provides an overview of the research around change, tools for working with clients, and an introduction to more recent findings to better understand why there is resistance.
