This chapter focuses on Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage, with particular emphasis on how the rules apply to group health plans.

The Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003 (MMA) was signed into law on December 8, 2003. It created a new Medicare Part D, which established a voluntary outpatient prescription drug benefit for seniors and qualified disabled persons.
