Most of the green screen or blue screen matte extractions that you encounter will be simple and straightforward, needing only to key out a single colored background and replace it with background footage or a virtual set. However, there may be times that both green and blue are shot simultaneously to provide for different levels of matting, such as a background and foreground plane. This creates a sort of sandwich between the two planes and the subject and retains the shadows on the object.
