Chapter 8. Managing Performance in an International Workforce

Global performance management systems (GPMS) range from "one-global-process-fits-all-nations" models—sometimes expressed as, "If we do it this way at home, it's good enough over there!"—to a set of loosely connected, dissimilar models that have no value outside of their national borders. This chapter will provide information and exercises to help companies understand global performance management systems that allow both local integrity and global inclusiveness—the key elements of a corporate initiative. We will also examine the national and civilizational dimensions of the SSI Model and their relationship to performance management.
