I crossed a bridge spanning a powerful waterfall and rode into the car park, where I was greeted by a young man.

‘Hi', I said. ‘I'm here to see Mark Evans. I have an interview.'

‘Ah yes', he replied. ‘Just park your bike over there.' He pointed towards a shady spot under a massive tree close to the entrance.

Pretty impressive, I thought, to have someone greet you in the car park.

I was on a road trip for the Ingenious Oz Project and had spent the past two weeks travelling through outback Queensland. I was heading to Cairns for an interview when I stopped at a café for breakfast. On the laminate table I noticed a dog-eared brochure for Paronella Park. I'd never heard of it, but I was intrigued by the story it told of a young Spanish immigrant back in the 1930s who followed his dream, built a castle and created Queensland's first hydroelectric power plant. On the front of the brochure were the words ‘Voted #1 must do' and ‘a life-enhancing experience'. I was hooked. It sounded like a great fit for the Ingenious Oz Project. What I got was a truly life-enhancing lesson on creating a truly remarkable business.

It's one of the things that should separate you from every other business in your field. You can call it whatever you like. Knowing the why, being passionate, finding your thing, being on purpose — it doesn't matter ...
