Glossary

AAA (also triple-A): A game that aims for the highest market and industry standard, similar to a blockbuster in Hollywood. Also refers to the developer of such games.

Animatics: Still images with text, voice-over narration, and/or a soundtrack, or comic book panels appearing in sequence.

Cinematics: Fully pre-rendered in-game movies with high production values and no player interaction.

Core leads: Directors and leads of various disciplines within the project. People like the technical director, lead game designer, art director, producer, etc.

Critical path (also critpath): The collection of all the missions, narrative, and gameplay elements that are required to complete the game.
