Lighting a Room to Look Natural

This shot of a luxury hotel room may look like it was illuminated by just the natural daylight from outside as well as some of the lamps inside, but four powerful flashes were used to manage the contrast and make it look natural.

The overriding factor was the ambient light coming in through the windows on what was a very dull day. This light was given a little extra force by a Ranger Quadra unit outside the window, hidden behind the brown drapes, which shone some interesting light on both the back of the center couch and the sculpture on the small table. You can see the effect of this light by checking out the shadow of the sculpture on the wall directly behind it.
