Camper Van Shot Multi-light Setup

A lovingly restored split-screen VW camper van is parked on the edge of a beach, and stormy clouds are rolling in. However, the lighting is anything but gloomy.

Bright light from a set of super-bright flashes really show off the van’s green paint job. The shot was lit by two Elinchrom Ranger packs—the powerful, 1100Ws full-size heads rather than the smaller 400Ws Quadra units. These heads were fitted with standard reflectors and moved far away enough from the van to provide nice, even lighting. With an output of 1100Ws, they were powerful enough to enable me to use an aperture of ƒ/11 at ISO 100.
