Hiding a Flash for Rim-light

Brides with veils are the perfect subject for rim-lighting, especially because having a light source behind a veil really lights it up and provides a lovely frame for the face. Of course it’s not particularly natural looking, unless you are blessed with a glorious day and can use a stream of sunlight to highlight the veil. Even then, chances are you’d be using a flash to light the bride’s face anyway—hardly an unobtrusive, natural look.

If the day is overcast and the light is flat, you’re not going to get that naturally rim-lit veil that brides often love, so you’re going to have to fake it.
