Margaret PEAKE: If you watch detective films, when two policemen are interviewing a suspect there is the bad cop, who is aggressive and violent, and the good cop, who offers the suspect a cigarette.

Carl RITCHIE: It’s often to him that the suspect opens up.

Margaret PEAKE: Particularly if he’s afraid that the bad cop may come back!

Carl RITCHIE: It was difficult for me not to allow your assistant his concessions when he agreed with every aspect of my proposal. He just had to work within a limited budget.
