PREFACE TO THE THIRD EDITION

When I first discussed the idea of updating Financial Engineering with Christopher Cudmore – my editor at Pearson – I didn’t anticipate that it would take much time to complete. I imagined that all I needed to do was to update the numerical examples, add a few paragraphs here and there, and I’d be done by tea-time. To allow some margin, however, we agreed that six months should be more than enough.

It actually took two years, and the result is a book that is 50% longer than the previous edition. There are five totally new chapters, and four more chapters where the content has been completely re-written. Everywhere else the text has been completely revised and brought up-to-date.
