Deconstructing Several Films’ Workflows

Success is an HD project by experimental filmmaker Glynn Beard as part of his Ocean of Storms series of films. Success was shot and finished on 1080p Sony HD Cam at 23.98 FPS. Although the film is anything but conventional, the workflow was, for the most part, a classic Final Cut Pro HD workflow similar to Basic Workflow 4 in Appendix 10. The film was shot with Sony CineAlta HDW-F-900 at 23.98 FPS.

Audio was recorded double system on a Nagra 4.2 to achieve a “warm” analog quality.

Down conversion of the HD video to DVCam video was done at Digital Film Tree who also advised on the workflow. Digital Film Tree has been one of the louder voices in Hollywood promoting Final Cut ...
