How to Start Learning Before Class to Improve Efficiency

Introduction

Pre-work—or what we prefer to call Phase I learning—is an important element of the complete learning experience. It serves a variety of purposes, including:

  • Securing the learner's attention
  • Generating learning intentionality
  • Stimulating interest in the topic or a “need to know”
  • Establishing a common understanding of concepts and terminology
  • Gathering data to use during training
