COACHING AND BUSINESS OUTCOMES

As promised in Chapter 1, this chapter begins with some research showing the impact of coaching on a variety of business outcomes. Figures 3-1 through 3-5 display the correlation between various levels of leaders’ coaching effectiveness, as measured by a 360-degree feedback instrument that measures coaching competencies, and a variety of other outcomes.

Figure 3-1 compares varying levels of employee commitment with coaching effectiveness. What leader wouldn’t want gung-ho, turned-on employees? Everything goes better when the organization is populated with such people.
