Much of what we understand about employee engagement and its links to business performance comes from extensive work done by such organizations as RBS, Nationwide, ISR, Towers Perrin and various others described in Chapter 2. In this annex we look at relevant contributions to the space.

The term ‘employee engagement’ is a collective which incorporates many traditions within the human capital space. The evolution of the term stems from many relevant ideas and we have broken these down into the following categories:
