The employment deal
Catering to an employee’s overall wellbeing, creating goodwill, is one means by which we enter into a ‘deal’ with our employees. It sends a message: we are attending to your needs so that you can attend to ours. Around three out of ten employees work for organizations where they know what is expected of them and what in return they can expect from their organization. But that leaves seven out of ten employees feeling less than good about this relationship.75 The employee should feel fulfilled, appreciated and developed and cared for; in return they are encouraged to respond in kind and invest their discretionary energy.
