Pillar Two – Get to the Front Line

Tony Blair is someone who understands the power of the personal. Anji Hunter, his aide, described his approach in her interview with us about her employer, the then Prime Minister:

‘When [Tony] was trying to drive through change in the Labour party to make it an electable body . . . we literally went on the road and talked to as many of the party members as possible and then we extended it to the public, we had meetings in village halls, in town halls, in leisure centres, in cinemas, in theatres.’
