Chapter 21:Springtime in the Forest
Stuart Samuelsson’s voice on the phone was almost giddy. “Can you meet me for lunch today? I have some good news. Great news, in fact.”
J.C. met Stuart at their regular haunt not far from Stuart’s office. Stuart was already seated and tapping a pad of paper with his pen. When J.C. sat down, Stuart started out with one bombshell after another.
“Well, first, Marie and I have decided to get married!” he said with a smile that enveloped his face.
“Congratulations, Stuart. She’s a great woman, and you both seem so happy together. Besides, she’s seen you through some real ups and downs.”
“You can say that … especially when I was in the hospital and rehab. But it’s been a year now, and I’ve been clean and sober.” ...
