“Marie, get Jack in here, right now,” Stuart Samuelsson said.

Fifty-something, graying, tall, and angular, Stuart sat in his 30th-floor corner office at a mahogany desk, described by one of his senior executives as “large enough to land a small aircraft on.” This office had been the whipping shed for many an executive in the past, as Samuelsson Technology had risen from a small technology reseller into a major systems integrator and government contractor.
