New-Employee Orientation (aka On-Boarding )

Do you remember being a new employee? Do you remember your mindset on the first day? It was probably a mix of anxiety, excitement, blissful ignorance, and irrational exuberance, right?

Now, do you remember what actually happened in your first week? In most cases, you were probably introduced to a few people, you signed a bunch of forms, and then you were set loose to do your destruction. Do you remember how quickly your enthusiasm and optimism waned?

What a missed opportunity for everyone. If you remember nothing else about new-employee orientation, carve this in stone:

“The primary purpose of orientation should be to instill values!”

Of course the employee needs to sign the required documents ...
