About the author

Péter Vinkler graduated in chemistry at the University of Szeged, Hungary, in 1966 and obtained his PhD in infrared spectroscopy of organic sulphur compounds in 1974.

He is currently scientific advisor and works as the scientific secretary of the Chemical Research Center (CRC). Until November 2009 he was also the Director of the Scientific Publication Data Bank of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (HAS). Previously he was the Head of the Biocomplex Research Department of CRC for several years. His team developed FERROCOMP, an iron-pectate complex successfully applied against anaemia.
