APPENDIX 10B

MATLAB FORMULATION OF THE 10-NODE ELEMENT STIFFNESS MATRIX

10B.1 INTRODUCTION

This Appendix contains annotated versions of the m-files used to form the stiffness matrix for a 10-node plain stress triangle. In general, a 10-node element can have one or more curved edges. However, the m-file that integrates the 15 integrals required for the formulation of the stiffness matrix handles only straight edges. If curved edges are to be represented, the m-file entitled GreenIntegrals10 must be modified.

This presentation is closely keyed to the numerical example in the previous Appendix and, consequently, to the main text of the chapter.

It should be noted that no attempt has been made to present an elegant or efficient code for forming ...
