85. Internship Tips for My Son . . . and Others

When my son finished his first year at his university, he sought his first internship. Networking helped get him in the door, but he handled himself beautifully during the interview and won the position on his own merits.

Of course, I wanted to give him some advice before he started working, and since he sometimes “hears” me better in writing, I emailed my suggestions to him. These tips would be equally helpful for other first-time interns—or anyone who was starting a new position.
