84. Become a Mentor: It’s a Two-Way Street!

A woman that I have mentored for a number of years called me recently and asked me to help her prepare for a high-level interview. She is being considered for a position as a vice president at another company. She said that a woman she had mentored at that company had recommended her for the open position.

The anecdote made my day! As the old saying observes, what goes around, comes around.

Mentoring is a two-way street. The mentee gains from interacting with an experienced person, but the mentor also benefits from the relationship. Mentors gain by doing the following:
