Get a blank calendar (you can get one by visiting the energy equation website www.energyequationbook.com/resources). You can get a pre-generated three- or six-slot day or create your own. Now fill in the slots that are already weekly occasions. For example, if you play tennis every Sunday at 10am fill this in as a slot. What do you see you have left?

Loads of free time!

By looking at the slots you get an idea of how much free time you have. There are five evenings in the week of non-work time where you have three to six hours per day. You can fill this time by relaxing, spending time with your family, going out to dinner, movies, etc. You can also actually ‘choose’ to work late!
