  • Reduce your sleep time steadily and consistently. Wake up 10 minutes earlier each day until you arrive at an amount of sleep that works for you. Getting up earlier, while hard at first, is the best way to thrive on less. Your body’s sleep cycle will adapt and you will feel tired earlier in the day and hence you can go to bed earlier. Doing it the other way, i.e. going to bed earlier, can often be more difficult as you may not be able to get to sleep.
  • If you wake up before your alarm clock goes off and you have had more than five to six hours sleep, just get up. Don’t make yourself sleep longer. Create the habit of needing less sleep each day. The body goes through 90-minute sleep cycles, so if you wake up and there is less than 90 minutes ...
