Exercise: Identifying stress

Answer the following questions to identify your stress triggers:

  1. What triggers stress for you? What type of situation? When stressed, look at what you are trying to prevent happening.
  2. How does stress ‘show itself’ in your lifestyle? How do you respond to stress – in what ways? (See the box below for some examples.)
  3. What emotions do you experience when you are stressed?
  4. What thoughts go through your mind when you are stressed?
  5. What are the physical symptoms of stress?
  6. Where do you store your stress?
  7. What methods do you use to cope with stress?
  8. How long do you stay in a state of stress?
