Discipline may be accelerated in cases where there is a pattern of abuse such as but not limited to: frequent absences on Friday, Monday, or the day before or after a holiday, and instances when the employee approaches the point level for discharge, improves his attendance for a time, and then resumes a pattern of excessive absences.

Discipline may be repeated or delayed when there appear to be mitigating factors associated with the attendance problems that warrant more lenient treatment.
