Appendix C. Sample Rules of Conduct

It is a good idea to have rules of conduct (such as those presented here) that are distributed to all employees to alert them about what behavior is and is not allowed in your company. Remember that all policies applicable to a union-organized facility require negotiation with the union before implementation unless a collective bargaining agreement gives the company the specific right to determine such policy. The obligation to negotiate in good faith does not require that the company and union reach agreement; however, the union contract may make such requirement. You should contact a competent labor attorney if there is any issue about your rights and obligations in this regard.
