GLOSSARY

Assessment centres: a method of assessing candidates’ suitability for a given post as part of the recruitment and selection process. This usually consists of candidates undertaking a series of activities which are observed and assessed by representatives of the recruiting organisation.

Behavioural questions: questions asked at interview which focus on the candidate’s past behaviour, thereby providing the recruiting manager with evidence of how well the candidate matches the recruitment criteria.

Buddying: the process whereby a new recruit works and/or sits alongside one other experienced member of the team in order to learn from them.

Developmental feedback: feedback which focuses on what an individual can do better, improve or change. ...
