“If we are to be a real team,” you say, looking each team member in the eye, including Jason, “we have to stick together. Let’s take a team vote on what we’ll do next. There are two options. Option 1 is to postpone this meeting. Option 2 is to carry on and do what we’ve gathered here to do: share our thoughts openly and honestly about where the project is at and how we want to move it forward together.”
You explain how the voting will work. Everyone holds up a fist when they’ve decided on their option. When everyone’s ready to vote, on a count of three, everyone shows a number of fingers to indicate his or her preferred option.
