Think-Pair-Share

This is a buzz group activity in which two or three people briefly share responses to questions and emerging understandings.

Purposes

  • To get individuals to talk about their developing understandings of a topic
  • To bring conversational variety into a learning space
  • To use the intimacy of a dyad or triad to increase engagement and understanding
  • To focus large-group discussion on issues that matter most to participants

How It Works

  • During a large-group discussion, lecture, or media presentation, the facilitator asks participants to write down emerging insights or responses to a question.
