Appendix C. Metadata

In digital photography, metadata is information about your photo embedded within the photo file. Some metadata can be added or edited, and some is absolute. You may not know it’s there—but it is, always. While you’re “taking a picture” of your cat, your camera is “taking the information” of your camera the moment you press the shutter button. Aren’t you lucky you get to enjoy the cat photo while your camera gets the boring old information?
