Chapter 6. All About Metadata
THE INTERNAL INFORMATION about an image—its creation time, exposure, name, title, description, photographer, and so on—that’s been stored in the file itself is metadata. It all sounds a little, well, metaphysical, and the fact is the more data that’s embedded in a digital photograph the easier it is to find that image, no matter how many years in the future you begin your search.
So much information can be added to a digital image that the mind boggles. Here’s what information is included in metadata, how it’s laid out, where it goes, and how to add it.
