Adding Detail to the Castle

By first blocking in the basic shapes of the castle, you won’t get overwhelmed by the little details. Now that you have the big forms blocked in, you can add embellishments.

Equal Divisions in the Castle Walls

Let’s start by adding detail to the top of the castle walls. You’ll create equally spaced lines and then use the Distort tool to divide the space. You could draw equal divisions using the rulers as reference, as you did in the previous chapter, but here is a quick way to draw precisely equal divisions:

1. Start a new layer, and call it Divisions. At the top of your workspace, away from the main drawing, add a short vertical line by dragging downward while holding the Shift key.
