Forgive (but don’t forget)

Stuff happens.

At some stage in your business life, whatever your best endeavours, mistakes will hit you. And when they do, the temptation is to launch a witch-hunt. In your pain, you want to find the person responsible and give them grief.

It might make you feel better. It might give you a misguided sense that you’ve stopped it happening again, but you’re very wrong. Instead, you’re creating a culture of fear. Before long, people will start to cover up their mistakes. They’ll shift blame and backstab. And then the cock-ups will come thick and fast.
