Using Borders and Backgrounds

In this chapter, I introduce the properties that you can use to apply background and borders to an element. These are very commonly used features that have been enhanced in CSS3. For example, you can now create borders with curved edges, use images for borders, and create drop shadows for elements. These might seem like simple things, but their omission from CSS has led to endless efforts to provide these features in other ways, with mixed success.
