Chapter 14. Future Directions

Xen is under constant development by the team at XenSource and a large number of external contributors. It has evolved from a Ph.D. project to a successful commercial hypervisor supporting hardware assisted virtualization and paravirtualization on a number of platforms including x86, IA64, and PowerPC.

As a community-run open source project, the Xen project receives contributions from a large number of contributors—including research organizations and vendors. XenSource hosts the code repository, and Ian Pratt is the project leader; however, there are many submaintainers of different parts of the tree who take responsibility for their particular areas of expertise.
