When the word “skyline” is mentioned, people tend to think of big cities and their famous structures, such as the Empire State Building, the Eiffel Tower, or Big Ben.

What all of these structures have in common is their distinctive form, or outline, but you don’t have to live in a city to understand the concept of a skyline. Rural areas also boast well-defined shapes that immediately bring recognition, such as a barn or silo, or more recently, the giant wind turbine.
