SHOW ME THE DIRT
Adventure races place participants in a variety of compromising scenarios. Here competitors were required to pass their boats to one another while keeping it above a mud puddle. I was impressed by the concentration, effort, and speed in which they moved through the challenges they were presented. I used a 400mm telephoto lens to isolate the individuals and get visually close enough to the action to capture facial expressions during the gritty, uncomfortable moments. —TH
